You won't enjoy it one bit, you'll love it! For life...
It’s happening on four different Croatian islands and it’ll probably be the hardest 100 miles of your life.
We’re absolutely sure that you’ll love it!
10km x 4 = HAPPY TENNER
Is a full marathon
(albeit in four stages)
tells you everything you need to know about 4 Islands Run. Having said that, since 10 K’s is practically a long-distance sprint, there is a lot to appreciate around the race.
Off the top of our google search, we can assure you that Krk has fine wines and historic sites, Cres a vulture sanctuary and the most beautiful small town on a cliff, Rab is famous for its medieval churches and Lošinj is basically a place where tourism first appeared as an idea. And anywhere you go search for a local konoba and ask for zubatac (dentex) fish. It’s worth the trip alone.
Also, you can seriously race. 10 K loop will go over mostly flat terrain, which means along the sea on a forgiving surface so be sure to make a run for it!
20km x 4 = HALF HELL, FULL THROTTLE
we can tell.
Running a half marathon for four days in a row is no small feat. Any long-distance enthusiast can tell you that.
Our mid-range course, however, is much more than a long(er) distance trail. Carefully conceived, the middle course has some of the features of the shorter distance race (sharing partly flat terrain) and some of the hardest ultra race (special stages and some of the most attractive sites).
You should also keep in mind that most Croatian islands are not really huge and apart from one, none of them are flat. Going 20 K’s in any direction means you’re bound to cross at least some island peaks. We tried not to make it the highest ones for a half marathon but only half succeeded.
Oh, and be prepared for a few adventure details as well.
40km x 4 = A HUNDRED MILES OF HEAVEN
The world is not just.
Live with it.
Only the bravest group on the longest course will get to enjoy all of the natural wonders of the four famous islands (and more than a few man-made as well). Which is both a blessing and a curse. If you’re going to run four marathons against the clock, there is actually less time for you to stop and enjoy the place where you suddenly find yourself. Which you will definitely want to. So, for the win, your YOLO drive management might be more important than, say, your rest management.
We’re only saying this because we’ve already seen the full course (being course setters and all) and we can promise, nothing about this race is easy. It is at moments beautiful, breathtaking and gorgeous but never easy.
When you hit a crisis, though, remember the old mantra: even the best suffer, they just go faster.
